kea, an AI startup that automates restaurant phone orders with virtual cashiers, needed a cloud platform that could support rapid growth and frequent product changes. As it scaled, its previous setup lacked transparency and was hard to manage, so kea turned to DigitalOcean through the Hatch startup program and began using Droplets and Managed PostgreSQL.
DigitalOcean helped kea simplify its infrastructure and scale more flexibly with Droplets, containers, load balancing, and Kubernetes, while also using Managed Redis and Spaces. The result was a smoother ability to pivot, faster development, and stronger support during growth; kea also raised a $10M Series A in 2020 and went on to add major new customers, including large fast-food chains.
