Ersilia uses AI/ML to advance scientific research with the support of DO Impact

Ersilia, a U.K.-based technology non-profit, helps research organizations in Africa and the Global South develop new medicines with data science and AI/ML. As a small non-profit, Ersilia needed simple, cost-effective cloud infrastructure and support to deploy and maintain its platform without the burden of managing local servers or complex cloud operations, and it worked with DigitalOcean through DO Impact.

DigitalOcean provided hosting credits and hands-on guidance through its Ambassador Program, and the team used DigitalOcean App Platform with Docker Hub to deploy Ersilia’s solution. The result was a low-maintenance setup that let Ersilia launch an initial model for a research institute in Cameroon and then deploy additional models with minimal extra work; today, Ersilia has 100 AI/ML models on its platform and is aiming for 500, helping scientists become more efficient in testing medicines.
