Datacake, an IoT data platform founded to make device connectivity and dashboarding easier, needed an infrastructure partner that could support rapid growth without the complexity and rising costs of larger clouds. After outgrowing Heroku, the company chose DigitalOcean, including DigitalOcean App Platform and managed infrastructure services, to keep scaling simple and predictable.

DigitalOcean implemented Managed Kubernetes, Managed PostgreSQL, Managed Caching for Valkey, and Droplets for custom workloads, giving Datacake a lean, managed stack that supports about 35 million messages per day across global devices. The result was lower operational overhead, no need to hire a larger DevOps team, and infrastructure costs comparable to several full-time salaries saved, while enabling Datacake to focus on product innovation and customer value.
