A DigitalOcean Case Study
BASAibu, a nonprofit in Indonesia, set out to preserve local languages and create a safe space for civic discussion through its multilingual wiki and community forum. As the platform grew from a shared hosting setup toward nearly 4 million users, BASAibu needed more scalable, reliable infrastructure to support its expanding community and limited technical resources.
DigitalOcean supported BASAibu through DO Impact and DigitalOcean for Nonprofits and Social Enterprises, providing cloud credits and hosting on Droplets, Volumes Block Storage, and backups. With DigitalOcean, BASAibu scaled smoothly, avoided service interruptions, and continued growing from 1 million to almost 4 million users in three years, while increasing digital literacy, Balinese-language writing, and public participation in local languages.
