Flower City Printing, a New York–based full-service printer with more than 40 years’ experience serving Fortune 500 brands, faced the challenge of adopting Digimarc Barcode — an imperceptible, surface-wide barcode that carries the same data as a traditional UPC. The team’s main concerns were potential impact on package artwork, stability and detectability during production, and loss of prepress control when embedding a nonvisible code.
Flower City addressed these concerns with a preliminary press test and on-site support from Digimarc, then integrated the process into offset, flexo and digital workflows without impacting pressroom efficiency. The rollout proved “second nature”: jobs run reliably, the capability adds value and differentiation for clients (especially private-label customers), and retailers’ adoption promises faster checkout and new consumer engagement opportunities.
