Global Food & Beverage Company Reduced Plastic Usage by Digitizing Packaging

Global Food & Beverage Company wanted to reduce plastic waste by eliminating shrink-wrap sleeves from its bottles, but doing so made it harder to identify products and maintain quality control during production. To solve this, the company worked with Digimarc to digitize packaging while ensuring each bottle and lid could still be accurately verified across the manufacturing process.

Digimarc implemented digital watermarking and a digital twin approach that linked each product to flavor-specific data, enabling the right lid to be matched to the right bottle without changing the packaging look or existing printing workflow. The result was a reduction of 22 tons of plastic and 159 tons of carbon emissions, while preserving 100% quality checks and eliminating multiple tons of plastic annually on the production line.
