Datalogic, a leading maker of retail scanners, faced the challenge of speeding up checkout and reducing bottlenecks for retailers while keeping scanners rugged and reliable in demanding store environments. To address this, Datalogic worked with Digimarc and enabled its Magellan™ scanners, including the Magellan™ 9800i, to decode the Digimarc Barcode for faster scanning of items at checkout.

With Digimarc, Datalogic implemented invisible, repeated barcode technology across package surfaces so products could be scanned more quickly and easily, even with handheld and mobile devices. The results included significantly reduced checkout times, more items scanned per minute, and a Guinness World Record at NRF 2014: 50 items scanned and bagged in 48.15 seconds, cutting the previous record in half.
