Traficom signs 7-year partnership with Digia for long-term Java development

The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom required long-term application development support for its wide array of official services. To address this, Traficom partnered with vendor Digia to provide Java developers for the maintenance of legacy systems and the creation of new, modern applications.

Digia implemented a solution by supplying a team of Java experts to work on varied projects, including the development of the new, mission-critical Lilja licensing system which utilized modern technologies like Event Sourcing. The result was a highly reliable system that handles all passenger and freight traffic licenses in Finland and provides real-time data to other authorities. The successful partnership led to a stable, seven-year agreement, with Digia's role expanding to approximately 30 experts and plans to recruit 20 more Java developers.
