State Treasury modernizes public reporting in 2018–2019 with Digia and Power BI

The State Treasury, a government agency under Finland's Ministry of Finance, sought to modernize the statistical reporting solution on its public website. Their challenge was to update their old system to make data easier to update and combine, while also giving reports a fresh look and making the website more user-friendly and interactive. They partnered with vendor Digia to implement a solution using Microsoft Power BI.

Digia implemented a Power BI solution running on Microsoft Azure cloud services. This system retrieves statistical data from data warehouses, including one implemented by Digia, via timed batch jobs. The solution resulted in live, interactive reports embedded directly into the website, allowing users to apply their own filters and download data. The reports are provided in three languages, modernizing the State Treasury's public reporting and fulfilling its duty of service.

State Treasury
