A Digia Case Study

Preview of the HKScan Case Study

HKScan reduces farm carbon footprint with Digia across 200 farms

HKScan, one of Finland's largest food industry companies, faced the challenge of reducing the carbon footprint of its primary production, which accounted for over 90% of its total emissions. To achieve its goal of a carbon-neutral supply chain by 2040, it partnered with vendor Digia to develop a digital system for analyzing and reporting farm-level emissions.

Digia built a reporting system integrated into HKScan's producer portal using Microsoft Power BI and Azure. The solution automates complex carbon footprint calculations and provides farms with clear "traffic light" indicators of their performance, along with concrete recommendations for reducing emissions. The successfully piloted system is being rolled out to approximately 200 farms, steering them towards tangible environmental actions and helping HKScan progress toward its sustainability targets.
