Tisséo Outfits New Lineo Vehicles With Digi WR44 Routers to Provide Real-time Vehicle Connectivity

Tisséo, the public-transit operator for the Toulouse metro area that handles over 120 million trips a year, needed real‑time connectivity for its new Lineo rapid‑transit vehicles. Existing Wi‑Fi–based AVMS only synced at depots, leaving buses disconnected on the road and preventing live dispatch updates, passenger displays, and continuous vehicle monitoring — so Tisséo required reliable 4G connections and secure onboard networking for fare systems and real‑time passenger information.

Tisséo chose the Digi TransPort WR44R, a rugged, enterprise mobile router with dual‑SIM 4G, strong security (firewall, VPN, segmentation), and Digi Remote Manager for mass updates and fleet monitoring. The routers install in about an hour, provide continuous 4G or depot Wi‑Fi backhaul, and are being deployed to 40 Lineo vehicles initially (with 120 more to follow), enabling live route/location displays, remote ad updates for revenue, and future services like video security, mobile ticketing, and predictive maintenance.
