Tisséo outfits 160 Lineo vehicles with Digi to deliver real-time transit connectivity

Tisséo, the public transit operator for Toulouse, France, faced a challenge with real-time connectivity for its new Lineo rapid-transit vehicles. Their existing fleet only connected to backend systems via WiFi when in depots, leaving vehicles disconnected while on routes. To provide passengers with real-time information displays and improve operational monitoring, Tisséo needed reliable 4G cellular connectivity on the road and turned to Digi International for a solution.

Digi International provided its Digi TransPort WR44 R routers, which offered robust 4G connections, dual-SIM slots, and secure VPN capabilities. This solution gave Lineo vehicles a permanent back-office connection, enabling real-time passenger information and vehicle monitoring. The initial deployment for 40 vehicles was set for 2016, with plans to equip 120 more, and opened possibilities for future services like security video and mobile ticketing.
