Flo powers 1,000,000 monthly EV charging sessions with Digi International

FLO, a major electric vehicle charging network, faced the challenge of creating a reliable and seamless charging infrastructure to support the growing adoption of electric vehicles. Their goal was to ensure high uptime and a superior user experience for both drivers and station owners. To achieve this, they partnered with vendor Digi International and utilized their Digi XBee modules, industrial cellular gateways, and embedded system-on-modules.

The solution implemented by Digi International involved creating an innovative architecture where a central gateway on a building could communicate with individual charging stations across an entire parking lot using Zigbee technology. This allowed FLO to remotely monitor all stations, perform preventative maintenance, and dynamically manage power distribution. As a result, FLO maximized uptime, achieved significant scale, and now supports over 1,000,000 charging sessions monthly with more than 80,000 stations sold across North America.
