Enlight Teams with Digi to Create Smarter, Safer, and More Cost-Efficient Lighting Environments

Portugal-based Enlight, a decade-long maker of rugged urban lighting and control systems, faced growing municipal demand for smarter, safer, and more energy-efficient street lighting. Traditional powerline communications proved noisy and unreliable as Enlight added sensors, metering and richer data requirements, so the company needed higher-bandwidth, low-latency wireless networking and the ability to implement its own RF protocol across large deployments.

Enlight partnered with Digi for RF modules and cellular gateways, using Digi’s mesh-capable hardware and API to build custom communication cards and a GPS-enabled field app. The solution delivers centralized control and tailored dimming profiles, real-time fault notifications, local gateway data storage with periodic uploads for analytics, broader coverage and faster response—enabling larger projects, lower maintenance costs, improved safety and measurable energy savings.
