Enlight expands smart street lighting with Digi across 900 MHz RF mesh networks

Enlight, a Portugal-based designer of sophisticated urban lighting solutions, faced the challenge of meeting growing municipal demands for smarter, more reliable, and energy-efficient street light control. Their previous powerline communication system was noisy and unreliable, and they needed a robust RF networking solution to transmit secure data faster for their smart devices. They partnered with vendor Digi International for a wireless networking solution.

Digi provided the RF modules and development framework that enabled Enlight to easily implement their own protocol and build a mesh network. The solution uses Digi cellular gateways to autonomously manage groups of lights from a centralized operations center. This resulted in smarter, safer, and more cost-efficient lighting environments for municipalities, providing real-time notifications for maintenance issues like lamp failures and the ability to remotely adjust lighting profiles for events or energy savings.
