Endress+Hauser Partners with Digi International to Deliver a More Connected World in Remote Locations

Endress+Hauser, a global leader in measurement and automation with over six decades of experience, needed a reliable way to collect tank level (“product inventory”) data from remote sites and feed it into customers’ ERP workflows to enable vendor‑managed inventory and better replenishment decisions. Remote tanks lacked affordable communications, manual readings caused delays and inaccuracies, and Endress+Hauser recognized that communications hardware was outside its core competency, so it sought a technology partner.

Working with Digi, Endress+Hauser combined its radar level sensor with the battery-driven Digi Connect Sensor gateway to capture eight process variables every 15 minutes and push summarized data to the cloud 2–3 times per day. The system triggers reorder points, supports consumption forecasting and JIT deliveries, eliminates manual data entry into ERPs, and boosts operational efficiency—while paving the way for future multi‑variable digital communications (Wired HART, Modbus) via Digi Connect Sensor+.
