ElectriCities, a not-for-profit serving 90 municipalities, faced unreliable and costly legacy copper and dial-up connections for their power network telemetry. Digi International implemented their Digi WR31 and Digi WR21 LTE routers, featuring Digi SureLink® for connection reliability and integrated with Digi Remote Manager® for centralized management. This solution provided secure, multi-carrier cellular connectivity. The results included over $300,000 saved in telemetry charges in the first year, with annual savings growing, plus an additional $30,000 per year per site from reduced troubleshooting and lightning damage costs. The deployment also enabled ElectriCities to scale services reliably without adding staff.
