Dynamax monitors crops with Digi XBee across fields up to 1,600 feet apart

Dynamax, a global leader in plant-monitoring instrumentation, faced the challenge of helping farmers determine optimal irrigation levels for sensitive crops. The company needed a reliable wireless solution to transmit data from its field sensors to its monitoring dashboard in order to provide growers with precise water usage recommendations. They partnered with vendor Digi International and utilized the Digi XBee SX 900 MHz RF module for data transmission.

Digi International implemented a solution using its XBee modules and gateways to create a robust network that transmits sensor data from the field. The system is centrally managed using Digi Remote Manager for setup and monitoring. This allowed Dynamax to continuously collect data and provide hourly reports and weekly irrigation recommendations to farmers. The solution from Digi International helped growers significantly optimize water usage, improve crop yields, and support sustainability, with Dynamax reporting about 200 viticulturists in Napa Valley alone relying on the system.
