Digi XBee Modules and Gateways Help Smartbox Transform Package Delivery With Networked Lockers

SmartBox, a Seoul-based company founded in 2013, needed a better way to solve the growing problem of unattended parcel delivery as online shopping increased. Its IoT-enabled SmartBox lockers offered a secure alternative to traditional delivery and kiosk systems, and Digi International provided the wireless connectivity technology behind the service, including Digi XBee modules and gateways.

Using Digi International’s XBee modules and gateways, SmartBox enabled secure locker access with single-use codes, centralized monitoring, and SMS delivery notifications. The solution helped SmartBox expand to more than 3,000 lockers across South Korea and Japan, while improving convenience, security, and cost efficiency and reducing labor demands for building staff.
