Digi Drives Digital Experience in the Only Zero-Emissions-Capable Black Cab

Frazer‑Nash, the U.K. engineering group behind the Metrocab—the only zero‑emissions‑capable London black cab—needed a reliable onboard computer to power driver and passenger displays. Their in‑house embedded efforts suffered reliability and memory corruption issues and proved costly and slow, so they sought a turnkey module that would meet their high standards and simplify development.

They adopted the Digi ConnectCore® 6 System on Module (NXP i.MX6 Quad) and moved the software stack to Android. Digi’s module eliminated low‑level memory timing work, sped development roughly 15× (from about one project a year to ~15), and cut what would have been a six‑figure effort to a fraction of the cost. The result is a robust digital instrument cluster and multi‑function infotainment system with touchscreens, connectivity and fleet‑ready features that improve safety, comfort and operational efficiency for drivers and passengers.
