CropX saves 10-20% of irrigation water with Digi International

CropX, an irrigation software service, sought to optimize irrigation for farms to deliver water and energy cost savings and increase crop yield. Their challenge was to securely get sensor data from the field to their cloud application for analysis. They partnered with vendor Digi International to find an end-to-end solution that was also easy for farmers to implement and use.

Digi International provided a solution using XBee DigiMesh radios and a ConnectPort X4 gateway to relay sensor data to the cloud via Digi Remote Manager. This allowed CropX to focus on its analysis and application. The results included a 10-20% reduction in water usage, quick and simple implementation for farmers, and lower operational costs for CropX as the Digi solution eliminated the need for costly communication servers and IT maintenance.
