Cimcon Software covers 28 square miles with Digi using just two gateways

Cimcon Software, a developer of automated street light control systems, faced the challenge of connecting street lights across the mountainous and vegetation-heavy island of St. John. They needed a rugged and reliable mesh networking solution from Digi International that could withstand harsh weather conditions and provide long-range communication for their system.

Digi International implemented a solution using its XBee-PRO ZB modules to create a mesh network. This enabled full communication across the entire island with only two gateways, covering 28 square miles. The results included reduced energy consumption, remote monitoring and control, and the expansion of the network to also connect electrical monitoring reclosures for the local power authority.
