Case Study: AddÉnergie achieves scalable, cloud-managed EV charging networks with Digi International

A Digi International Case Study

Preview of the AddÉnergie Case Study

AddÉnergie Driving Electric Vehicle Charging Station Networks

AddÉnergie, founded in 2007, designs, manufactures and operates electric vehicle charging stations for networks like the Electric Circuit and VERnetwork™. The company needed a reliable, scalable way to monitor and manage dispersed chargers across parking lots and integrate with building energy-management systems so EV drivers and station owners would have a seamless, always-on experience even in busy urban environments.

AddÉnergie implemented a cloud-based architecture using Digi’s XBee modules, ConnectPort® X4 cellular gateways and the ConnectCard™ i.MX28, placing the gateway on the building to cover entire lots while each station runs an i.MX controller and XBee radio. The system enables card access, automatic charging sessions and email summaries, plus remote monitoring, preventative maintenance, power-sharing and load limiting; the rollout now exceeds 1,700 stations serving 7,000+ EVs, with providers breaking even in three years and seeing ROI in year four.
