40,000 Digi XBee Connected Meters Save Energy for CAS Customers

CAS Tecnologia is a Brazil‑headquartered energy solutions provider serving more than 200 customers, including 20 of the country’s 26 largest utilities. Facing the need to remotely monitor and manage widely distributed electric meters—to detect theft, track unusual consumption peaks and improve operational efficiency—CAS required a reliable, easy‑to‑deploy communication solution.

CAS integrated a Digi XBee‑PRO ZigBee communication module into each meter, leveraging the module’s small form factor, reliability and simple network setup. The deployment enabled remote supervision, fraud and loss detection, and automatic control; more than 40,000 XBee‑equipped meters have been delivered to Brazilian utilities, helping customers cut costs and boost efficiency.
