A Digabit, Inc. Case Study
Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transit Authority (Metro) needed a faster, more accurate way for its 2,000 mechanics to find and order parts for buses and rail cars. Before working with Digabit, mechanics relied on PDF manuals and manually entered part numbers into the EAM portal, which led to incorrect orders on 25% of jobs and created at least a 30-minute delay when parts had to be reordered.
Digabit provided Documoto, a cloud-based parts ordering system that integrated with Metro’s Infor M3 EAM platform and gave mechanics direct access to current catalogs, manuals, search tools, and exploded illustrations. Metro said order accuracy improved from 75% to over 99%, productivity increased, and vehicle downtime fell, while the online system also helped reduce paper waste by eliminating hard-copy manuals, printed PDFs, and handwritten purchase orders.
