Midwest Department of Transportation boosts public trust with The Dieringer Research Group, Inc through a 20-year data partnership

For twenty years, a large midwest department of transportation has partnered with The Dieringer Research Group, Inc. (The DRG) to proactively monitor public trust. Their challenge was to maintain public confidence in their management of traffic, congestion, and roadway maintenance by measuring awareness of new projects, performance perceptions, and communication effectiveness before any issues could escalate.

The DRG implemented a biennial, multi-modal omnibus survey designed to track public sentiment. This solution provided the DOT with a data-driven roadmap, revealing key insights into areas of declining trust, construction disruptions, and communication gaps. Based on these findings, The DRG recommended targeted actions to refine outreach and improve project communication, enabling the DOT to strengthen public perceptions and maintain critical trust in its infrastructure management long-term.
