Moving from Teller Cash Dispensers to Recycling Technology Transformed the Branch Environment at South Carolina’s Largest Credit Union

Founders Federal Credit Union, South Carolina’s largest credit union with more than 210,000 members, wanted to improve teller efficiency, speed up transactions, and reduce lines while creating more opportunities for member engagement. After years of using electronic cash dispensers, the credit union evaluated its teller operations and saw a need for more automation at the branch line.

Founders Federal Credit Union selected Diebold Nixdorf’s electronic cash recycling (ECR) technology, installing 33 recyclers across teller and drive-thru lines. The solution sped up cash-in and cash-out transactions, reduced daily vault interactions by about 10%, and cut redundant back-office work, allowing tellers to spend more time with members; Founders plans to replace its remaining cash dispensers with 41 additional Diebold Nixdorf ECRs.
