Integrated Banking and Postal Branch Services

BAWAG P.S.K., one of Austria’s major banks, partnered with Austria Post to create a tightly integrated network of 500 branches offering both postal and financial services. To support its branch modernization and growing self-service strategy, the bank needed a fast, efficient way to equip a large number of locations while improving customer convenience. Diebold Nixdorf provided the self-service technology and software foundation for the rollout.

Diebold Nixdorf delivered an end-to-end solution with open, network-centric self-service software, advanced hardware, and outsourcing services, helping BAWAG modernize 150 existing branches and add 350 new ones. The bank also introduced innovations such as cash recycling terminals and SmartCash, which lets customers withdraw cash without a card using a 10-digit code generated via the banking app. The result was a more automated, efficient branch network that supported BAWAG’s goal of becoming one of Europe’s most efficiently run banks.
