Secure IDS Logging Using Trusted Applications in Vehicle Infotainment Systems

The customer, a leading automotive software company, faced the challenge of developing a centralized and secure Intrusion Detection System (IDS) for its in-vehicle infotainment platform. The key hurdles were ensuring tamper-resistant log collection across isolated virtual machines running different operating systems while also maintaining reliability during a security breach and complying with internal security frameworks.

Diconium designed and implemented a secure logging solution by developing a Trusted Application (TA) that operates within a Trusted Execution Environment. This solution captures and preserves critical logs during an intrusion and alerts secure systems to transmit data to a forensic server. Diconium's work resulted in a forensic-ready platform with 100% traceability, significantly reduced implementation time, and lower development costs for the customer.
