Swiss Federal Railway Uses MATERNA USSD Gateway for Critical GSM-R Communications
Swiss Federal Railway wanted to take advantage of the GSM-R railway communications standard and add faster, menu-based USSD messaging for its operational staff. To support this challenge, Swiss Federal Railway worked with Dialogic and MATERNA, using the MATERNA USSD Gateway with the Dialogic TX Series SS7 Board.
Dialogic helped enable a secure, reliable USSD solution that fit into Swiss Federal Railway’s existing network and supported interactive services without requiring apps on mobile devices. The result was significant process optimization, more efficient operations, and cost reductions, while also enabling new internal services such as weather forecasts and train departure requests via USSD.
