Excel Telecomunications Migrates to Next Generation IP-Based Networks

Excel Telecommunications needed to move from a costly, complex TDM-based network to an IP-based next-generation network that could support more advanced services and lower operating costs. The company turned to Dialogic and its ControlSwitch System to replace legacy switches while preserving existing investments and enabling new revenue-generating voice and data offerings.

Dialogic implemented the ControlSwitch System to centralize network management, support mixed IP and legacy environments, and simplify service deployment. As a result, Excel replaced 19 TDM switches with 5 NGN switches, cut its operations team from more than 120 people to about 30, reduced network spending by over $1 million per year, and tripled traffic load to more than 1.2 billion minutes per month while lowering both OPEX and CAPEX.
