Forth Ports cuts lighting energy use by 75% with Dialight

Forth Ports Limited, a UK port operator, faced significant challenges with its outdated high-intensity discharge lighting at its Leith facility. The 400W SON and HPS high bays provided inadequate light, generated excessive heat that burned dust onto lenses, and required frequent, costly, and highly disruptive maintenance that could only be performed when storage sheds were empty. The inefficient fixtures also caused work delays due to long re-strike times.

Dialight provided the solution by installing its energy-efficient DuroSite Series LED high bays (150W and 172W models) to replace the old lighting. This resulted in energy savings of 60-75%, eliminated the maintenance burden with a 5-year warranty, and provided instant-on light with vastly improved color rendition. The project also cut CO2 emissions by 0.4 tonnes per light annually and helped Forth Ports win a green business award.
