A Dialight Case Study
Donjon Shipbuilding and Repair, a shipbuilding facility on Lake Erie, faced a significant challenge with its lighting. Their massive, open-air production building was illuminated by over 250 metal halide lights that frequently failed due to the harsh, high-vibration environment and had notoriously short lifespans. With fixtures mounted as high as 125 feet, maintenance was a major obstacle. The poor quality of light also created dark spots and visibility issues, forcing workers to rely on flashlights for tasks requiring precision.
Dialight provided the solution by installing just 79 of their 60,000-lumen Vigilant High Bay LED fixtures. This reduced the fixture count by 70% while delivering superior, bright white light that eliminated all dark spots. The results were a "night and day" improvement in visibility and the complete elimination of lighting maintenance, backed by Dialight's 10-year warranty. The new LEDs also cut the facility's lighting energy consumption in half.
