Heathrow improves queue timings in 15-minute increments with Devstars

Devstars was hired by Heathrow, a major airport, to address the challenge of reducing immigration queue times in the leadup to the 2012 Olympics. The airport needed to meet strict service level agreements with government and airlines, and its ambassador staff required an easy-to-use data entry platform to record key metrics while maintaining public engagement.

Devstars created a bespoke data capture and reporting tool that measured queue times at 15-minute increments and sent alerts to border force staff. The solution featured an easy-to-use tablet interface that allowed staff to maintain eye contact with the public. The system successfully helped Heathrow meet its SLAs and was later rolled out to numerous other airports including Gatwick, Portland, and Atlanta.
