Film Locker, a supplier of secure and carbon-neutral data storage to the creative media industries, faced a challenge. Their clients needed to view offline data directories and request restorations, but the data's offline nature made this complex. They hired the vendor Devstars for a WordPress site redesign and to pioneer a unique data management solution.

Devstars developed an innovative Mac application using Python that allows clients to drag and drop a drive to generate an XML file of its structure. This file is imported into WordPress via a custom plugin, enabling clients to log in and navigate their offline data seamlessly to request restorations. The solution maintained Film Locker's core environmental benefit, as their carbon-neutral offline storage produces only 1.25kg of CO2e per five years per terabyte compared to 150kg for cloud storage.
