Weblight, a UK lighting maintenance specialist with 135+ employees and a dispersed remote workforce, needed to protect its IT systems from unauthorized devices, data loss, and malware risks from USB sticks, phones, PDAs, and other plug-and-play hardware. To address these challenges, it evaluated endpoint security options and chose DeviceLock’s policy-based DeviceLock DLP software as the best fit for controlling device access across its servers, PCs, and laptops.

DeviceLock implemented centralized control over local device activity, allowing Weblight to block unauthorized USB, FireWire, WiFi, Bluetooth, and other devices while approving specific staff devices through requests and an internal USB database. The company also benefited from remote installation and management via a console and Active Directory integration, reducing admin time and improving control across about 70 users at five sites. As a result, Weblight significantly reduced the risk of data leaks and uncontrolled device use.
