Mammoth Hospital - Customer Case Study

Mammoth Hospital, a remote California health care system serving a 17-bed acute care hospital and 13 clinics, needed to strengthen patient data security as it expanded electronic medical records and increased PC use across its facilities. The hospital wanted to meet HIPAA and nationwide health care data security standards while preventing unauthorized copying of patient records to flash drives and other personal devices. To address this challenge, Mammoth chose DeviceLock endpoint data leak prevention software.

DeviceLock gave Mammoth Hospital centralized monitoring and control over local PCs, using Active Directory-based policies and auditing to track removable media use without immediately locking everything down. The hospital can now validate compliance, investigate potential policy violations, and update settings remotely for sites in Bishop without unnecessary travel, saving a 30 to 40 minute drive per change. With DeviceLock in place, Mammoth Hospital improved visibility, reinforced employee policy awareness, and gained the ability to quickly tighten controls if needed while supporting secure access to patient records.
