SoftBank Achieves Significant Improvement in the Efficiency of its Complex IT Infrastructure Management with Device42 Automation

SoftBank, a major Japanese telecommunications group, faced mounting complexity managing tens of thousands of servers and over 100 network sites using fragmented in-house tools and spreadsheets. Persistent data inconsistency, limited real-time visibility (automatic collection only ~70–80%), and high maintenance man-hours made reliable configuration management across CMDB, ITAM, DCIM and IPAM untenable.

Working with Aby3 Secure System, SoftBank adopted Device42 to consolidate CMDB, ITAM, DCIM and IPAM on a single platform, running a POC and a two-phase migration that scaled to about 50,000 managed devices. Automated discovery rose to 95%, operational complaints fell, and SoftBank estimates approximately 25% TCO reduction over five years while freeing staff from manual tasks to focus on higher-value work.
