LeasePlan Migrates Its Global Finance to AWS in Six Months

LeasePlan, a global fleet-management leader with more than 6,000 employees and 1.8 million vehicles in 30+ countries, set out to migrate six data centers and 200+ applications to AWS. The biggest hurdle was replatforming its decade-old Global Finance System (GFS), which ran on more than 200 SAP/AIX servers across 20 countries; AIX wasn’t supported on AWS and the environment was poorly documented, leaving the migration at risk due to lack of visibility into dependencies.

LeasePlan adopted Device42’s agentless discovery and service-mapping to uncover AIX and Wintel infrastructure, communications, ports and dependencies, build affinity/move groups, and identify hidden components (for example, a Windows server with heavy transactional traffic). With Device42’s insights and cloud right-sizing recommendations, the team replatformed GFS to AWS with confidence — cutting the project timeline from an estimated two years to roughly five to six months.
