Gravity R&D - Customer Case Study

Gravity R&D, a company that delivers real-time SaaS product recommendations for high‑traffic websites, faced the challenge of managing unpredictable, rapidly changing loads while juggling multiple disparate inventories and differing hostname conventions across providers. They needed a single source of truth that could translate internal and provider hostnames, anticipate capacity needs for fast scaling, and track both IP and non‑IP assets (monitors, laptops, SSDs, etc.) without cumbersome manual lists or multiple databases.

Device42 was deployed quickly and became that centralized system: Gravity used the API and the alias field to map hostnames, imported server and non‑IP asset data (which don’t count against Device42 licenses), and integrated custom scripts to keep the database current. The result was consolidated visibility for rapid capacity decisions, elimination of several siloed tools, faster operational workflows, and responsive vendor support that fixed issues promptly—saving time and enabling more reliable, timely scaling for customer recommendations.
