Device42 Helps Achieve DR in Less Time, with Less People

Founded in 1980 with nearly $1 billion in annual revenue, this technology company operates intelligent commerce networks that connect offline and online transactions for retailers, manufacturers, healthcare providers and other partners. To ensure business continuity it runs surprise disaster recovery (DR) exercises, but lacking a central, up-to-date source of infrastructure and dependency data made it slow and labor-intensive to assess impact and coordinate responses, stretching DR to about seven days and involving more than 65 people.

The company deployed Device42 as a single source of truth for near-real-time infrastructure data (service accounts, admin credentials, validation IPs, dependencies, etc.), enabling teams to coordinate faster and with fewer people. As a result, DR time dropped from 7 days to 2–3 days and required headcount fell from roughly 65 to 25, and the team was able to execute a full remote DR during the COVID pandemic within 48 hours.
