A Develop Diverse Case Study
Sydbank, one of Denmark's largest banks, faced the challenge of unconscious bias in its communication, which often excluded groups based on gender, age, ethnicity, and disability. Their goal was to reflect society more accurately and become a front runner in diversity and inclusion. They partnered with the vendor Develop Diverse to help their team become more conscious of exclusionary language in their writing process.
Using the Develop Diverse tool, Sydbank’s team increased its awareness of unconscious bias and integrated professional discussions about inclusive writing into its weekly meetings. This initiative led to Sydbank achieving third place in a Danish diversity index that ranks companies on how well they reflect society in their online text and imagery. The solution from Develop Diverse also generated strong buy-in from top management and helped embed a lasting culture of inclusive awareness within the bank's communications.
