UniDAC made switching between database engines a breeze for the Derelict and Ownerless mines project

Council for Geoscience in South Africa worked on the Derelict and Ownerless Mines project, funded by the Department of Mineral Resources, and needed a flexible way to manage and migrate data across multiple database engines. Using Devart’s UniDAC, the team had to build ad-hoc applications to read data from Oracle, SQL Server, and MS Access and move it into a new Firebird database, while also supporting a natural hazards processing application.

Devart’s UniDAC provided the solution with easy switching between database providers, access to multiple databases, and high-speed data access. The application processed spatial data in PostgreSQL/PostGIS using parallel processing, reading 1.92 billion records at 213.8 thousand records per second and processing 19 billion records in 4 hours 36 minutes; it also enabled seismic data processing for 18,000 buildings in the same timeframe.
