Case Study: Misc Games achieves rapid piracy takedowns and improved player insights with Determ

A Determ Case Study

Preview of the Misc Games Case Study

Misc Games finds and shuts down piracy attempts

Misc Games, a Norway-based game studio founded in 2013 known for titles like Fishing: Barents Sea and Fishing: North Atlantic, needed a simple but powerful way to monitor what was being said about their games, learn about players and competitors, and detect piracy after moving to self-publishing in 2020. They chose Determ’s online media monitoring service (including its Slack integration) to track mentions, player demographics, and competitive signals across the web.

Determ implemented tailored monitoring queries and provided hands-on support to cut out irrelevant results, delivering real-time alerts into Slack for the whole team. As a result, Misc Games saw a noticeable improvement in their tracking metrics, were able to quickly find and take down YouTube videos with illegal download links, and boosted team morale by surfacing positive mentions—Gøran Myrland rated Determ a 10/10 and strongly recommends it.
