West Point Military Academy Deploys Network-Centric Emergency Notification System to Reach All Personnel and Cadets – Certified by EM2P

The United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point needed an enterprise‑level, network‑centric mass notification system to protect and account for upwards of 8,000 cadets, staff, contractors and visitors across a historic, widely dispersed campus. Requirements included multi‑modal emergency alerting, personnel targeting and accountability, Common Alerting Protocol (CAP), Giant Voice and building‑system interfaces, rapid operator access and real‑time acknowledgement reporting. To meet those needs USMA selected Desktop Alert’s EM2P‑certified Enterprise Edition mass notification solution.

Desktop Alert deployed its Enterprise Edition behind the firewall, integrated with Active Directory and the academy’s existing IT to deliver desktop pop‑ups, SMS, phone, email, mobile app and Giant Voice alerts, provisioning clients to all campus PCs in under a week. The system reached full operational capability, became West Point’s primary alerting system, consistently delivered notifications in less than one minute, supported multi‑zone directed messaging, earned an “A” in a readiness exercise and was used successfully in multiple real‑world events—significantly improving the academy’s ability to rapidly notify, target and account for personnel.
