Henderson County, NC, the county government employing about 5,500 people, needed a totally secure, intrusion-free web-based emergency notification system for its historic courthouse as the first site of a county-wide rollout. To meet requirements for a SaaS environment, digital identification, actionable alerts and audit trailing, the county evaluated and deployed Desktop Alert EMS with Protexx digital identification services.
Desktop Alert, partnering with Protexx, implemented the Desktop Alert EMS plus Protexx Out-of-Band Authentication and Device Authentication (PKI) so only pre‑authenticated devices and users can publish or receive alerts. The solution delivered a secure, reliable and discrete mass-notification capability with guaranteed content delivery, audit trails showing who received alerts, and real-time online/offline visibility — effectively eliminating unauthorized access and enabling courthouse officers to send actionable notifications with confidence.
