Air National Guard (ANG) Use of Enterprise and Enclave Level Mass Notification and Warning Systems

The Air National Guard faced a Federal- and Air Force‑mandated challenge to field a standards‑based, survivable Installation Notification and Warning System (INWS) that could deliver both enterprise‑wide and enclave‑level alerts across classified and unclassified networks while meeting security, accreditation, budget and rapid‑deployment constraints. To meet those requirements the Air National Guard selected Desktop Alert’s DTA mass‑notification solution as a centrally managed, locally controllable, authenticated and auditable alerting capability.

Desktop Alert deployed a hybrid, multi‑modal architecture—desktop alerts, SMS, email, voice, digital signage and integration with sirens, public address and base phone systems—using hardened enclaves, secure gateways, redundant servers, logging and phased roll‑out with training and exercises. The DTA implementation produced faster notification times, improved personnel accountability, reduced reliance on single‑point warning systems, measurable improvements in force protection posture, broader non‑emergency adoption across bases, benchmark recognition from inspectors and ongoing funding for support.
