IU International University of Applied Sciences, one of Germany’s leading education providers, needed a flexible desk booking solution that could handle 1,500 employees across 30 locations and support different office layouts, hybrid work patterns, and fast changes. Its previous system could not cope with the data volume or the varied needs of its flexible workplace setup, so the university turned to deskbird and its desk booking app.

deskbird introduced a tailored desk booking solution for IU in 2021, rolled out to 800 employees at first and later used across the organization. Employees could book desks quickly via mobile or desktop, see where colleagues were sitting, and choose the right area for their workday. The result was high user acceptance, an average booking time of just 20 seconds per day, and an estimated saving of 20 hours per employee per year, while occupancy analytics also helped real estate managers make better space-planning decisions.
