Case Study: BlueKit achieves classroom-ready IoT education kits with Design-First

A Design-First Case Study

BlueKit launches a production-ready IoT learning platform with Design-First, reaching 500+ students

BlueKit Software, an IoT education company, faced the challenge of transforming a successful but expensive and fragile Arduino-based prototype into a durable, cost-effective, and production-ready hardware platform for classroom use. Their existing kit was too intimidating for students and teachers and struggled with school network connectivity issues. They engaged Design-First to handle the complete hardware development process.

Design-First engineered a custom, integrated device with a touchscreen, LED light ring, and nine modular sensor ports, featuring dual WiFi and LTE cellular connectivity to bypass school network barriers. The solution dramatically reduced the cost of goods, enabling an accessible retail price. The production-ready BlueKit platform has been successfully deployed across schools, reaching over 500 students, and is designed to scale from initial runs of 1,000 units to over 10,000 units by year three.
