DERMALOG worked with the Brunei National Identity Card Service Provider to modernize national identity management and border control. The challenge was to create a secure, reliable system that could support smart ID cards, biometric enrollment, and fast identity verification across immigration and registration operations.

DERMALOG implemented a microprocessor-based national identity card solution with integrated fingerprint biometrics, a central AFIS, live scanners and peripheral hardware, and later the DERMALOG Gate system for border control. The project went live in July 2000, and Brunei later extended enrollment to all ten fingers for ePassport registration. The result was stronger security, faster airport clearance, better data sharing across departments, and reduced risk of duplicate or false identities.
